Tiniyak ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mas mahigpit na pagpapatrolya sa gabi kasunod ng nararanasang rotational brownout sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa na dulot ng kakulangan sa suplay ng kuryente.
Ayon kay PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez, inatasan na niya ang lahat ng regional at provincial directors na palakasin ang foot at mobile patrols, lalo na sa mga residential area tuwing oras ng pagkawala ng kuryente.
“I have already directed all regional and provincial directors to intensify foot and mobile patrols specifically in residential hubs during the scheduled power interruptions at night,” ani Nartatez.
Sinabi ng PNP Chief na posibleng tumaas ang insidente ng krimen tulad ng “akyat-bahay” at iba pang street crimes kapag madilim ang paligid dahil sa brownout.
Tiniyak din ng PNP na mananatiling operational ang Unified 911 hotline sa kabila ng power interruptions sa tulong ng backup power systems.
“Our command centers and emergency hotlines, such as the Unified 911, will remain fully operational through back-up power systems to ensure that every call for help is answered,” pahayag ni Nartatez.
Matatandaang isinailalim kamakailan sa red alert ang buong Luzon ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
Dahil dito, tinatayang mahigit 320,000 customer ang maaaring maapektuhan ng rotational brownouts sa mga lalawigan ng Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Metro Manila, Pampanga, Quezon, at Rizal.
